Betty S. Leech, age 96, died on August 29, 2016, in the comfort of her home at Windsorwood Place in Coshocton, Ohio.

She was born in West Lafayette, Ohio on September 26, 1919, the daughter of Samuel M. Smith and Ora (Cabot) Smith, both deceased. Betty was a true lady. She enjoyed entertaining, baking, note writing, painting, traveling, golf and most of all spending time with her family, friends, and cats.

She was born in West Lafayette, Ohio on September 26, 1919, the daughter of Samuel M. Smith and Ora (Cabot) Smith, both deceased. Betty was a true lady. She enjoyed entertaining, baking, note writing, painting, traveling, golf and most of all spending time with her family, friends, and cats.

Betty attended the College of Wooster and The Ohio State University. She worked her entire career for the Coshocton County Auditor's Office until she retired in 1983. Betty was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Coshocton and was past President of the Junior Women's Association, past President and charter member of Trirosis, and numerous other organizations.

Betty is survived by her sister, Pauline Shurtz of Coshocton, Ohio; nephew Stephen Shurtz; niece Nancy Shurtz; Lynn (Paul) Scherbel; godchildren Arthur (Samantha) Scherbel and Susie (Pete) Burdine.

A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of the Presbyterian Church in Coshocton officiated by Pastor Jonathan Carlisle.
