Harold F. "Butch" Turner 78, of Sugarcreek, Ohio, and formerly of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio.
Butch was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, on June 21, 1936, the son of the late Raymond and Marjorie (Lear) Turner. He was a graduate of Coshocton High School and Muskingum College. Butch was the former owner and operator of Turner Hardware in Coshocton from 1957-1979, was a salesman for Wagner's Hardware from 1979-1984, and was a Coshocton County Commissioner from 1985-1998. Harold F. "Butch" Turner 78, of Sugarcreek, Ohio, and formerly of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio.
Butch was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, on June 21, 1936, the son of the late Raymond and Marjorie (Lear) Turner. He was a graduate of Coshocton High School and Muskingum College. Butch was the former owner and operator of Turner Hardware in Coshocton from 1957-1979, was a salesman for Wagner's Hardware from 1979-1984, and was a Coshocton County Commissioner from 1985-1998. He was a member of the former St. John's United Church of Christ in Coshocton.
On April 7, 1957, he married Barbara (Lang) Turner, who preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1979. He is survived by his three sons, Michael (Susan) Turner of Coshocton, Ohio, Thomas (Wendy) Turner of Lima, Ohio, and Andrew Turner of Houston, Texas. Butch is also survived by his six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild; his brother, Richard Turner of Coshocton, and his sister, Nancy Shook of Rochester Hills, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his brother, William, and his sister, Marian.
Per Butch's request, a private family burial will take place in South Lawn Cemetery, and a public memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, at Central Christian Church, Main Street, Coshocton, at 1 p.m. Pastor Philip Hunt will be officiating.
